11 thousand

DREAMERS.
I'm so excited for my brother and sisters.
It seems something might happen with them
The dream act was signed last June and now they can apply
There are tons of requirements
and they qualify.
Once they're approved they can receive
a social security card
then apply for a work permit
and finally a drivers license.

Look at the line ^
We went down town to navy pier for a free workshop.
It was hell, with two kids, hot, humid.
We didn't stay.
But it was a shocker seeing how many are really here just like us.
With dreams of bettering themselves.
My brother was 4 when he came here my other sisters 1 and 2.
I'm so over the moon that they are able to put this program into gear
and we don't have to worry about Ice, driving, ect.
Thank you all the dreamers that have worked hard to get this going
we appreciate you.

Lately..

I forced myself to write a post on father's day. Other than that I haven't had time, the usual time I write is after the kiddo goes to sleep, lately I've been just as tired. Lucas has been just changing before my eyes. He is such a smarty pants. He hasn't really expanded his vocab other than Mamamama & pa or dad, oh and no of course and si!!.He points so much at everything. I think it's good. He will point and I will explain the name in both in English and Spanish. My sister thinks he's a genius because apparently he knows where things go. For example, if you take something from him, he automatically knows where the item is. I guess in her psychology class they discussed how babies usually figure the item has disappeared. LOL. Either way I'm hella proud. We are also doing tons of animal noises. Also still potting!! I think he went a little nuts with knowing how to stand and walk. He no longer wanted to sit on there, after I heard a "clue" (grunt/shake or look) He wouldn't want to sit. Getting him to sit has been the hardest part now. Recently however he is loving it. Its our other special time, apart from nursing. T.M.I.We sit there, I also go (you know) and he goes. Poop & pee!!!! I'm so damn proud, because I know at this age the last last thing he wants to do is sit there. I think he's miles away from being able to hold his bladder ect.. but I think he knows as soon as I place him to "let go" Or its an urge, who knows. I'm pretty much just winging this. I seriously have so much to say I can't write enough about us. Anyway, He is so much fun, he plays with us. He laughs & cries so damn cute. We play ring around the rosie, so much. He never ever tires of it. He is the most amazing little guy ever. He got his first haircut, of course crazy mama me, saved his locks : D.

On the Mama & Pop side, We are working on being not only a team but a stronger team. I think he's ok with L self-weaning. He has been working to be better for us for me!!. And I for him. On the Immigration side, I'm close to having all the money for the lawyer, We suck at saving. I think I'm gonna make a goal post and that should be at the very top.

That is all I can think of.

Light at the end of the tunel

...We finally have a lawyer that we love.
He gave us great hope about my case. He said If all goes well, In 4 short months I will have me a lgc..(little green card) Ha. I found some required paper work, that shows that I came here legally but my parents over stayed their permit. So over the moon, mainly because we can breathe easier. I can't wait to visit my grandma in Mexico. I can't wait to finally have some kind of honey moon. Ahhh I cannot wait. I will keep you posted.

American me.

It's true
I wasn't born here
I came here around 8-9 ish..bla blah blah!

Damn it I've been kinda American for a while now!
Don't get me wrong I'm very proud of my roots
My nationality will forever be Mexican
but I've understood that this is my homeland
This is were I hope to get old
to raise my children & one day retire
I want to own a home, buy health insurance
maybe a little life insurance
Hope to stay out of debt
& travel all around this beautiful country
and maybe exit and get to return
I learned the language, started celebrating American holidays
Married my sweet "mutt"

I was here on 9.11.01
It changed my life
It made me proud to be an American
Even if it's not on paper
It is true in my heart.

Damn got denied..again

So status talk again..We're still shopping around for lawyers. I've read horrible stories of people being robbed of their time and money because of crooks. I hope we find someone honest & capable soon. Anyway I was at Walmart the other day since I'm stocking up on supplies for L's big 1st bday. I want to make cake stands out of plate and candle holders. So I wanted to buy spray paint to cover it all pretty. When I arrived to the register I had all my supplies ready. I started unloading and she said "I'm gonna need Identification to purchase the paint". I obviously don't look anything near 23. Uh yes I understand you must card for cig & booze..but paint. Really .??i hurried to find my "i.d." I searched in the diaper bag, in my pockets, and finally I showed her the only I.d. I posses, but that's my fault I've been putting off getting my passport. I need to soon. She told me that it wasn't valid. The guy behind kinda was rolling his eyes, I know this because I was embarrassed by my lack of "I.d.". That I looked around to see who was tuning in. Even though this has happened many other times I always manage to feel so small. I bet she's thinking why I just can't run out and get "real identification". If it were only that easy. Now I have no paint. The good thing is with L not yet sleeping through the night I may soon look very old & wrinkly :) and not need an i.d. at all.

On to happier things..I'm taking L to the Zoo today, Hopefully I won't crave a beer or a cig. Will post pics later

Checking in

It seems we can't get rid of this crazy cold thing that is going around and round. My husband wasn't feeling well last week after our L got over the mild pneumonia, now mom has a cold thing and i think it's making it's way toward L.
So I recently have started to share my blog with others that follow me on pinterest and maybe they have read it and maybe not. If they have then they have began reading of my "status". I'm not sure why it's so hard for me to say that word but I hope that they don't judge. Most people don't even know I speak Spanish, for a while I was very ashamed and embarrassed of my situation. Now I have began embracing my struggles and love sharing them with this blog. So we have began speaking with some lawyers, One of them said that I may even have to go to Mexico until they allowed me to come back legalized. I DON'T THINK SO BUDDY!. I can't imagine that the government would allow something so mean. We have a child I can't just go to Mexico. Although I would love a vacation, the farthest I've travelled to has been Wisconsin. Still I can't just pack up and go.

The immigration community is so vast and supportive If I may say. I've read stories of students who have been backed by whole communities when they are about to get deported(what a nasty word). Unfortunately not everyone is as lucky. I understand that those over here without legalization have broken the law and that isn't right. I do however know that now that I am a mom I would sacrifice so much for Lucas. I would do what my parents did. In order to keep him safe and give him opportunities I would go to a different land even if i didn't speak the language, even if it meant I may get in trouble. I guess I just want to thank these two>>
for doing what they did. My dad still struggles with the language, can you imagine understanding 10% of what people say. Still they get up, go to work. I love you both to pieces..I know they would kill me if they knew I posted this pic since they have been divorced for about 10 yrs now. I don't say it enough Thank you mamy & pa :)

Be genuine, be original, be you!

I have been struggling with ending this blog. I've asked my self the following, What is the point of this blog? Do you want to write about just baby L? Is it a family blog? Is our life to boring for a blog?...And pretty much concluded that yes! My life is too damn boring for a blog. I'm a mom (wow so is a lot of women) I'm a wife ( ditto) I'm Mexican (yup) I'm an Illegal immigrant..... So there it is, a truth that I rarely share with strangers and the one thing that is trully me. I have been pushing myself to be more authentic with people. I've always struggled to be me and although I'm still searching I think i'm getting there little by little.

I was born In Juarez Chihuahua, Mexico on July 19, 1989.My story is one of many, the typical going north for more opportunities. I didn't come to the U.S. until I was 8, I am the oldest of four.I remember my life in Juarez being easy, much simpler. I remember being by myself a lot of the time, My brother is 5 years younger. I have always hated being an illegal as long as I can remember. When I was in high school I didn't try as hard as I should have because I knew there was no future in school for me. My parents brought me up with the belief that I wouldn't be able to go to school due to my "status". So I cruised. If you've ever heard of my native city then you know it's full of violence and crime. I have always been an asshole to my parents for bringing me here, for ripping me away from my roots as i so lovingly said one night to them. What would I be doing in Juarez I constantly wonder. Excuse me if this sounds like a jumble of words. It is. I can even being to write down what it means to be ILLEGAL. How much it sucks when you have to provide identification at a local bar to enjoy your first over 21 beer, and they say Nope sorry not valid here. You can't drive..still do. You can't travel..still haven't. I miss my grandma so much. She really raised me, my mom was always working my dad was in the U.S. The actual only vivid memory I have of my dad is of him prying me away from my bike, which was being repossed!!! My younger sis has been here since she was 9 months old, Do you think she feels Mexican? Nope she is an American. She loves this country. She goes to school. She knows she's illegal too.My brother is an excellent student, if anyone deserves to go to college is him!. My middle sis is more like me, not here nor there.Still all she knows is this country, she was one and a half.

Now to my present. I've been married for about 2 years know my husband for 4, we fell in love got pregnant, lost that little babe, grieved our love got stronger. Tried for a baby again with a heavy heart. Our rainbow baby was born June 29.. We soon have to start the immigration process and I have to say I'm a little nervous. Mainly because I broke the law. While I had no say in coming here, let me just say that I entered legally I just overstayed my visa. I know in order to keep going forward I have to get my shit together. I must fight to remain where i've grown up. I must fight to better myself and help my husband out. I wanna go back to school to be a photographer and graphic designer. I wanna accomplish my goals. I want to visit my grandma in Juarez.I will keep you posted on my Immigration trails
